TRENTON, N.J. (Sept. 6, 2013) – The St. Francis Medical Center board of trustees and CHE Trinity Health today named Christy Stephenson, R.N., M.B.A., as interim president and chief executive officer of St. Francis Medical Center, effective Sept.13.

Since 2010, Stephenson has served as St. Francis’s executive vice president, strategic and clinical transformation.

“Christy brings to her position a legacy of health care leadership, a proven track record of quality care and robust clinical expertise,” said David L. Knowlton, chairman of the St. Francis Medical Center board of trustees. “She will continue St. Francis’s legacy of service to the Trenton community with compassion and a special commitment to the underserved.”

Before joining St. Francis, Stephenson served as president and chief executive officer of the Robert Wood Johnson Healthcare Corporation at Hamilton for nearly a decade. Under Christy’s leadership, RWJ-Hamilton became the first New Jersey hospital (and only the fourth in the nation) to receive the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award.

Stephenson received a Bachelor of Science degree from Rider University and a Master of Business Administration degree from Temple University Fox School of Business. She has won numerous awards for leadership and community service during her distinguished career and is a member of the board of directors of the Mercer Alliance to End Homelessness.

Stephenson succeeds Jerry Jablonowski who, after 10 years of service as president and CEO, last month announced his resignation from the medical center, effective Sept.13.

“In his 10 years as president and CEO of St. Francis Medical Center, Jerry has transformed our ministry, improving the quality of care and service to the Trenton community with compassion and a special commitment to the underserved. We thank Jerry for his service, and we wish him great success in his future endeavors,” said Knowlton.
